| The collections of the USS Constellation Museum consist of approximately 2,500 objects, photographs, documents, and books. Items such as an original 1854 porthole, letters from a young midshipman to his family during an 1890 practice cruise, a commissioning pennant hauled down in 1946 after her World War II service, and of course, photographic images of some of the thousands of recruits stationed on board in the early twentieth century all tell dynamic stories about Constellation’s century of service. New items, often donated by descendants of former crew members, are rotated into exhibits so there are opportunities to see something new in future visits. If you have an object, photograph, or document related to USS Constellation or a Constellation crew member please contact the Chief Curator at (link to e-mail) |
