Welcome to the USS Constellation Museum Events Page.  The Museum hosts all kinds of events from special tour offerings to gala fundraisers to teacher workshops.  Calendar listings will be updated and events will be added throughout the year.  Please check back for specific dates as the months approach.

Second Saturday Speakers Series & Other Events

The USS Constellation Museum offers special speaker programs and living history events throughout the year. Calendar listings are updated and events will be added as they are scheduled. Please check back often for specific dates and programs as the months approach.

Year-Round Programming

Daily
Live Cannon Firings at Noon daily and Noon and 4:00pm Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.
The Plan of the Day: Hands-on activities and demonstrations presented on the hour by the Ship's Crew.

Saturdays & Sundays, 1:00 PM & 3:00 PM: "Powder Monkey Tour for Kids"
The USS Constellation invites youngsters to come on board to learn about the lives of the young boys who served as powder monkeys. In a hands-on tour, young "recruits" will find out how lads from eleven to eighteen lived in Mr. Lincoln's Navy: how they dressed, ate, where they slept and lived, and some of the things they did on and off duty each day.

January 10th, 12:00 PM Noon: “Semper Paratus: Life aboard a Coast Guard Cutter in the 80’s”
Join former USCGC Taney crew member Patrick Aquia for an introduction to living and serving onboard a Coast Guard Cutter.

February 14th, 12:00 PM:  “Curatorial Corner: Behind the Scenes in the Captain’s Cabin”

Join Paul Cora, Curator of Historic Vessels, onboard USCGC Taney for an inside look at the ships history.

March 14th, 12:00 PM:  “Living History Interpretation – Civil War Navy”

Join Paul O’Neil, Museum Interpreter and Educator, onboard USS Constellation for a look at interpreting life in the Civil War Navy.

                           

April 11th, 12:00 PM: “Enlist Now in the U.S. Coast Guard! The Black Experience” Regina T. Akers, Ph.D.
Join Dr. Regina Akers, Archivist in the Operational Archives Branch of the Naval Historical Center, onboard USCGC Taney to discuss the experience of African Americas in the US Coast Guard.

April 25th, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM: Ship's Company

May 9th, 12:00 PM: "Voyage of a Thousand Cares" 
In 1844 the USS Yorktown sailed from New York as part of the newly-established African Squadron to interdict slave ships leaving the African coast.  Aboard Yorktown was a young master's mate, John C. Lawrence who recorded the day-to-day occurrences and remarkable events that took place during the three-year cruise.  Join Professor C. Herbert Gilliland, USNA, onboard USS Constellation as he provides an illuminating account of life in the African Squadron and Lawrence's experiences.

Enjoy fine food, drink, music and more aboard USS Constellation for the Annual BLAST! fundraiser. Reservations required, additional fee. 

June 13th, 12:00 PM:  “Action Above and Beyond: Emergency Surgery Aboard Submarines During WWII

Join Jan Herman, Historian for the Navy Medical Department, onboard USS Torsk for a look at medical care aboard submarines in WWII.

July 4th, 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM: 7th Annual Independence Day Deck Party Picnic.
Celebrate our nation's birthday high above the Inner Harbor Crowds. Classic Catering People will be serving backyard favorites along with Capital City Bear, local wines and assorted sodas.  There will be a band, special tours, cannon firings, giveaways and the best view of the fireworks. Reservations required, additional fee.

July 25th, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM: Ship's Company

August 22nd, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM: USS Constellation Crew and Descendant Reunion
Walk in the footsteps of your ancestors.  Former Constellation crew members and their descendants are always welcome onboard USS Constellation, particularly for the Museum's annual Crew and Descendant Reunion. This event is held each year on the Saturday closest to the anniversary of Constellation's launching on August 26, 1854.  Come join descendants and their families and get to know the shipmates of your ancestor!! This delightful event is free to all members, volunteers, former crew and their descendants.  Food and drink are provided.  Simply RSVP to your invitation (to be sent in the summer) or call 410-539-1797 if you are a descendant who is not yet on the museum's list.

September 11th, 6:00 PM: USS Constellation Turn-Around Cruise (tentative)
USS Constellation will get underway for her annual Turn-Around Cruise on Friday, September 11th, at 6:00 p.m.  Spectators may view this event from the Inner Harbor Promenade, Federal Hill, Fells Point and Ft. Mc Henry. USS Constellation Museum members at the Commodore and Admiral levels will receive invitations to be on board for the annual Turn-Around cruise. September 26th, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM: Ship's Company

October 17th, 1330 Start: USS Constellation Cup & Bull Roast
This fun filled day kick off with classic sailboat regatta and is capped off by a fun filled post race Bull Roast from 5pm to 8pm.  For more information on the USS Constellation Cup, including entry forms, visit www.ussconstellationcup.org.   Reservations required, additional fee.

December 7th; 11:45 AM: Pearl Harbor Day Remembrance Ceremony

Please join the board & staff of the USS Constellation Historic Ships Museum in honoring those who served during WWI with a memorial tribute by Admiral Thad Allen, Commandant USCG, a commemorative wreath drop and special recognition by the St. Andrew's Society of Baltimore.  The ceremony will be held onboard USCGC Taney, and is open to the public.

December 31st; 10:00 PM - January 1st: 1 AM: 8th Annual New Years Eve Deck Party.
Ring in the New Year, sip champagne, & watch the Fireworks high above the Inner Harbor crowds.  A twilight menu provided by Charles Levine Caterers will be served with local ale, wine, mulled cider and coffee.  There will be music, special tours, cannon firings and more. Reservations required, additional fee.
